Mobile App Developers Favor Android

In today’s mobile world, mobile app developers remain the lifeblood of the mobile application world while also dictating which mobile operating system will be successful in the years to come. With more Android powered devices being activated daily in comparison to Apple’s iOS, it should come to you as no surprise that developers are beginning to favor the Android platform. Not only can developers reach more people on the Android platform, but they can also more easily access the SDK  for free; making development favorable.

According to independent technology analyst Ovum, Android looks to replace Apple’s iOS in terms of importance to developers within the next year. Although the fight for supremacy continues, both operating systems are expected to have developers support their platforms. The research of Ovum’s second annual developer survey also went on to show the trend of mobile app developers moving away from traditional cross-platform development approaches such as Java, Flash, and WAP. Instead, developers are now focusing their efforts on developing web-based standards such as HTML5 which is the preferred approach to building cross-platform applications.
